Watch together on a phone: a film card to swipe yes or no, with how many of the group have finished

Choosing a film as a couple or a group usually means twenty minutes of "I don't mind, you pick", followed by something nobody really wanted.

Watch together turns that into a two-minute swipe. Everyone brings their own watchlist, Filmtally deals one deck from all of them with the films you have in common first, and each person swipes on their own phone. When everyone says yes to the same film, it is a match.

  1. Invite who is watching

    Start a session, choose up to five friends and a deck size: Quick (10 films), Normal (20) or Long (40). Friends get an invite in the app and join in one tap.

  2. Everyone swipes

    Drag, tap or use the arrow keys. Films on more of your watchlists come first, then films on someone's streaming services. When everyone says yes, It's a match! pops up for the whole group.

  3. See what you all said yes to

    Results show the films everyone agreed on, then the closest picks ranked by yes votes. Add them to your watchlist or open a group chat to settle the final choice.

  4. Saved as a movie night

    The session is kept as a movie night in your library. Its top pick shows up on your Tonight screen, and Filmtally asks the next day whether you watched it.

Questions before you start

How many people can join?

Two to six: you plus up to five friends. Everyone needs a free Filmtally account and to be friends with whoever starts the session.

Where do the films come from?

Only from the watchlists of the people who joined. Films more of you saved come first, then films streaming on at least one person's services.

What if nobody agrees?

You still see the closest picks, ranked by how many people said yes, and Filmtally suggests a longer deck for the next round.

Does it work in real time?

Yes. Everyone sees who has joined, how far the others have got, and each match as it happens.
