Ratings are how Filmtally learns your taste. They decide which directors and films your recommendations start from, which of your watchlist films comes up first tonight, and what your stats say about you.
So rating is kept fast. The day after a pick, Filmtally asks once whether you watched it: rate it from 1 to 10, say not yet, or say you skipped it. Any other film takes two taps.
Rate in two taps
Open any film, mark it watched and set a score from 0 to 10 in half steps. Add the date you watched it, or A long time ago for old favourites.
Watch the taste meter fill
The taste meter shows how well Filmtally knows you: Getting to know you, then Learning at 10 ratings, Tuned at 25 and Dialled in at 50.
See it add up
Your ratings become your stats: average rating, favourite genres and decades, and how your taste compares with the Filmtally community.
Questions before you start
What scale does Filmtally use?
Films are rated from 0 to 10 in half-point steps. The next-day check-in uses whole numbers from 1 to 10.
How many films should I rate?
A few ratings are enough to start. Around 25 is where recommendations start to feel tuned, and the taste meter shows how far you have to go.
Can I rate films I watched years ago?
Yes. Mark it watched and choose A long time ago instead of a date. It still counts toward your taste.
Is Filmtally free?
