How Filmtally works
One loop that gets smarter with every film, and the people you watch with around it.
Free · Sign in with Google · No credit card

Filmtally is not a movie database with a watchlist bolted on. It is built around one question: what should I watch tonight? And just as often: what should we watch?
Everything in the app feeds one loop. You save films, get a pick from your watchlist, watch it and rate it. Your ratings teach Filmtally your taste, so Discover recommends better films to save next. Watch together, friends and stats sit around that loop and use the same watchlists and ratings.

Sharper recommendations
Every rating moves your taste meter and changes what Discover recommends. The films you save from there are the ones tonight's pick chooses from, and the loop goes round again.

A week with Filmtally
Sunday
You sign in, choose your streaming services and save the six films a friend keeps talking about.
Monday evening
Tonight's pick is one of those six, on a service you already pay for, with the reason it was chosen.
Tuesday
Filmtally asks once whether you watched it. You rate it 8 with one tap.
Wednesday
Discover has a new row: Because you liked that film.
Friday
Three of you start Watch together, swipe for two minutes and land on a film everyone said yes to.
Next Sunday
Your stats show Crime as your top genre, a friend sends you a film in a message, it goes on your watchlist, and the loop goes round again.
Questions before you start
Is Filmtally a streaming service?
No. Filmtally helps you decide and shows where a film is streaming. You watch it on the service you already use.
Do I need to rate a lot of films before it works?
No. Tonight's pick only needs a few films on your watchlist. The films you loved during sign-up are enough for first recommendations, and the taste meter shows how much sharper they get as you rate.
Can I use it without friends?
Yes. The loop works on your own. Friends add Watch together, shared films and a feed.
Is Filmtally free?
Yes. Sign in with Google, no credit card.
